Similarly, dehydrated or freeze-dried food items that only require the addition of water take up less space than their fully hydrated counterparts.

Products that are densely packed without excessive empty volume inside the packaging can reduce the overall size and weight. This not only lowers the carbon footprint of shipping but also allows more products to be transported in a single shipment.

Minimizing the thickness or weight of product materials is another strategy. By using lighter yet durable materials, products can maintain their functionality while reducing their environmental impact. For instance, thin aluminum cans may replace heavier glass bottles for certain beverages, or plastic containers could substitute thicker glass containers in some applications.

In addition, products designed to be refilled or used with reusable containers can contribute to sustainability. Refillable cleaning products or beverages sold in reusable bottles minimize the amount of single-use packaging required, leading to less waste and lower carbon emissions over the lifetime of the product.
